The international energy industry today faces new challenges both economic and technical. The low oil prices, uncertainties in fiscal and economic situation in Europe, and the Far East, the emergence or resurgence of new oil and gas provinces, the need for innovation and introduction of emerging technologies, the environmental consideration, and the shifting pattern of the supply chain, are only a few challenges in our industry. The North Sea is fast becoming a mature oil and gas province, and yet despite competition from other regions of the world, its high prospectivity as well as the stability of the political and economic regimes of the regional governments, makes the North Sea one of the most attractive markets for operators and the suppliers.
